Foamglass.info - What is Foamglass, Really?

Foamglass comes in various forms for different user areas:

Gravel, Granulate, Block

Foam glass is porous glass. It's lightweight due to gases it holds within the pores. It's strong and has high thermal insulation properties.

Foamglass is made by heating mixed glasspowder and foaming agent. In high temperatures the agent reacts with gases inside the glass to form bubbles inside the mass.

The mass is then cooled to achieve steady gas-bubbled pores comprising around 90% of its volume.

Roads, bridges, housebuilding, piping, greenroofs, soil conditioning...

You can find foamglass in many places. Under your local highway or shopping centre. Even on the roof or walls of your home.

It can also be used as fire-protection, sound-absorbment, insulation, pipe-cover. Even in a substrate.

The different use cases have their different needs on production methods, but the principles stay the same.
